Melissa Marshall is proud to present the newest addition to the No You Cant'cer Foundation, Melissa Marshall's Bag of Tricks and Ostomy Tips! Every Tuesday, Melissa will be back to introduce you to an all-new ostomy product, or accessory, and tell you where to get it. She will highlight products you may already have, some imported from other countries, and a few little items that you may have never thought to include in your own ostomy regimen.
For her fourth episode, Melissa took filming to her support group at AtlantiCare. Once a month, Melissa meets with some other ostomates and urostomates to discuss their treatments, their lives, their problems, and their successes. For Melissa, and many other members, the support group is an invaluable tool to learning how to thrive with this life-saving appliance. It gives them a safe place to discuss their lives and any issues they might be having with people who understand them. Melissa implores you, if you have an ostomy, to find a local support group and join. The great members of the Atlantic County ostomy support group were kind enough to allow No You Cant'cer to showcase two ostomy care products, both to rave reactions.
First, she introduced a product from episode three, Riksack by Stomaworks. It is a band new ostomy item that she sees as a "Must Have" for all active ostomates! The Riksack is an ostomy changing kit that works for colostomies, ileostomies and urostomies. It allowed healthy air to reach the parastomal area with no mess or discomfort. The group was more than happy to learn more about this UK based product and Melissa hopes they find the Riksack just as invaluable as she does.
If you would like to try the wonderful Riksack, or learn more about it, you can visit it's page on the Stomaworks website HERE. If you do purchase a RikSack, or have used it before, please let Melissa know in the comments.
The second product that Melissa that Melissa brought with her was Na'Scent. Na'Scent is an ostomy bag odor eliminator. All that's needed is a few drops in your bag, and all smell is removed. This allows you to empty and change in a public restroom without fear and eat your favorite foods without planning for an unpleasant odor later. The lovely people at Na'Scent sent Melissa a box with dozens of free samples to share. While Melissa knows for a fact that the Na'Scent works wonders for her, many of the members of her group had never tried it before and everyone took a sample home. When the group meets again next month, they'll all share their thoughts on this product!
If you would like to try Na'Scent, or learn more about it, you can visit it's website HERE. Right now, Na'Scent is offering free samples, so you can try this odor eliminator now! If you do try a sample, or have used this before, please let Melissa Know in the comments.
Melissa and the No You Cant'cer Foundation would like to give a special thank you to all the members of the ostomy support group at AtlantiCare! Each and every member has a unique story and different journey to share, making each person invaluable. We hope that you might get to know these wonderful people as well as Melissa has in order to understand that ostomies are more common than you think and are nothing more than a medical tool that many people live with every day. An ostomy isn't something shameful, but something to be celebrated, as it has saved so many lives. If you have an ostomy and have been having trouble finding a support group near you, please contact the No You Cant'cer Foundation HERE and we'll try our best to help.
