The Sdy prize is an undergraduate linguistics competition in the US which recognizes outstanding students who conduct original research in their field and excel at studies. The winner receives both financial assistance and networking opportunities with scholars across linguistics. To qualify for this prestigious award, applicants must be fulltime university students enrolled in their third year of a degree program. At least half of their class must also have been in the top half, and completed an original research project with potential for publication in a peer reviewed journal. Since this scholarship is amongst the most highly contested ones in linguistics, applying should be given serious consideration as one way of increasing chances for future linguists.
Additionally, SDY also offers additional student prizes including the Sdy Scholarship which offers $5,000 towards tuition costs, book vouchers and the chance to attend conferences across the US or overseas. Applications close January 1st. For more information about this scholarship opportunity please visit SDY’s official website where applications and more detailed information on it are located.
