Daryl Pei Xiang Koh, better known by his stage name iceiceice, earned the top prize pool this year with over 1.8 Million U.S dollars – setting an all-time Dota 2 prize pool record since 2021 when his previous one of about 1.7 Million Dollars had been set.

At the President’s Volunteerism & Philanthropy Awards 2024 held at Raffles Hotel Singapore, 13 remarkable people and organizations were recognized for their dedication to social change. President Tharman Shanmugaratnam presented these awards alongside Minister for Culture, Community & Youth Edwin Tong.
Straits Times journalist Akshita Nanda won in English with her debut novel Nimita’s Place while Epigram Books publisher Cyril Wong won for his novel about women navigating societies in India and Singapore, respectively. Two more Epigram books won prizes: Chia Joo Ming’s novel Kian Kok and Wong Koi Tet’s short story collection Black Panther each won $3,000 prize plus trophy as well as 12-month Storytel audiobook gift subscription.
Twelve prizes were presented for works written in Tamil, Malay and Chinese; these awards included an inaugural English comic or graphic novel award which went to self-published Cockman (2022). This tale about a chicken from another dimension being trapped here won it; also making an impactful statement was translation work performed by Jeremy Tiang for Zhang Yueran’s Cocoon (2022), winning Chinese literature prize.
Following the theme of sustainability, this year’s event featured a “green carpet” made of recycled materials. Presenter William donned a 10-year-old dark green Alexander McQueen blazer while South African actress Mbatha donned a navy blue dress by Stella McCartney; bands One Republic and Bastille provided entertainment at the event.
Before the 2024 Southeast Asian Championship (SEAC), Singapore Sports Council (SSC) has unveiled an exciting online fantasy SEA Cup Game that allows fans to select their desired players and teams for this year’s tournament. It can be found both within iOS and Android apps of SSC, and online at its website; and will run between April 27 to May 5. On April 25, SSC also unveiled a Prize Draw offering up to USD $100,000 prizes to its customers.
