Generocity’s Hongkong Prize competition offers individuals and institutions around the world the opportunity to share ideas for supporting Hong Kong’s international development efforts with this HK$5,000 competition, part of their ongoing effort to make Hong Kong an international hub for sustainable development and global cooperation.
To be considered for the Hongkong Prize, applicants must submit their applications no later than May 30, 2021 and provide details about how their winning idea will be put into action. Awarded annually for best proposal in each category as well as applicants who made significant contributions toward meeting its objectives, it will go to those deemed most qualified.
On June 28, 2022, the winner of the Hongkong Prize will be revealed. Established by friends and students of Dr. John D. Young to encourage postgraduate research in history, this award recognizes students who attain the highest result within 48 credit third year History courses enrolled. It is administered by Society for Hong Kong Studies.
One man remains hospitalized following being attacked by anti-government protesters during Mong Kok’s “Black Monday” event on November 11, 2019. Multiple individuals hit him with metal bars and hammers before being dragged away by other group. Hongkong Prize Committee honored one photo which captured this incident, saying it shows the “brutality” of these anti-government demonstrators masked protestors.

Hong Kong’s future tech innovation will benefit from academic excellence awards given out by local universities. Five researchers from Hong Kong universities were honored with BOCHK Science and Technology Innovation Prize 2024, an accolade which offers vital support to Hong Kong’s economic transition. Ng Siew Chien was honored for her noninvasive tests for gastrointestinal tract disorders and autism spectrum disorders while Zhang Hua and Chen Shih-chi worked on phase engineering of nanomaterials, 3D microfabrication technologies and developing data and AI security technologies respectively.
After the latest New Year Snowball draw was held without a first prize winner, its jackpot grew to more than HK$138 million. As part of increasing prize money in Classes Three and Four, and to promote Professional Patronage Groups (PPGs), the Hong Kong Jockey Club announced they have added a bonus of one million Hong Kong Dollars for PPG wins that qualify. All other bonuses will remain the same across classes two and one; their value in racing industry will continue to be promoted as will rewards to racehorses for their contributions!
