Hong Kong may not come to mind immediately when considering great swimming pools, but the city does boast an array of beautiful pools ranging from the world’s highest swimming pool to a natural infinity pond on a mountainside. Public and government-run pools may become overcrowded during summer; to escape crowds head for one of Hong Kong’s hotel rooftop pools with top-of-the-line facilities, breathtaking views, and plenty of lounge chairs with drinks in hand!
A great place to take a swim and soak up Hong Kong’s sights is Tai Po Beach Park. Additionally, this is an ideal spot for young children needing additional care in the water; with facilities being very clean and well maintained as well as having various seating areas so you can find your ideal spot whether in sun or shade.
Though more expensive than some local pools, this one is truly stunning and boasts all of the amenities one would need for an enjoyable swimming experience. There’s an olympic-sized pool as soon as you step off of the foot bath area and plenty of other pools inside the complex including one dedicated for training swimmers. Outside there’s beautiful pools featuring waterfalls at shallow ends as well as plenty of loungers – not forgetting jacuzzis and splash bars which add even more fun!
As this pool is popular among families, it often becomes busy during weekends. The pools are very large, the complex well maintained, and there’s also a playground and snack bar on site so that swimmers can grab something to eat before or after swimming. Unfortunately, it may require taking taxi or bus transport from other parts of town to reach it if your accommodations lie nearby.
The main indoor swimming pool at this Hong Kong government-run complex is impressive and well worth visiting to escape the heat. While its entrance fee may be slightly steeper than most pools, staff are friendly and there’s an extensive list of activities. In addition, you can buy a monthly swimming pool smart card which makes entering easier since you won’t require documentary proof of identity – saving both time and hassle when entering. Starting this year, this new system will be introduced at all public and government-run swimming pools across Hong Kong.
