The Hongkong Prize is one of the world’s premier awards, bestowed annually to those who make significant contributions in various fields. Through an intensive vetting process, only deserving candidates receive this honour; encouraging excellence while encouraging innovation, creativity, and ethical conduct while strengthening Hong Kong as a hub for scientific research.
Today (September 25), winners of the 8th Inter-school Competition on Study Projects on Hong Kong History and Culture were revealed. This annual contest seeks to increase students’ knowledge about Hong Kong’s past while simultaneously encouraging active learning outside of class by conducting in-depth research projects on its history and culture. This year’s theme for competition was: “Honour and Disgrace: The Historical Development of China and Hong Kong”.
Participating in the Hongkong Prize requires submitting ideas to Generocity, an organization supporting Hong Kong. The submission deadline is November 30, 2021 – giving participants an amazing chance at securing substantial cash prizes while also realizing their ideas!
Winners of the Hongkong Prize will not only receive monetary rewards but will also be honored at an award ceremony and given recognition. This will raise their profile and advance their careers further. Additionally, prize winners and experts from other industries will collaborate together so as to network and share ideas on how best to develop Hongkong.
Hongkong Prize makes significant financial donations to various causes each year, such as providing scholarships for outstanding students or supporting local arts groups. Through this practice, they reward people who have made positive contributions to society.
Some of the Hongkong Prize money is allocated towards research, including developing new technologies and materials, leading to greater awareness of it within Hong Kong, on Mainland, and internationally. This has resulted in greater respect and admiration of this award from all quarters.
The Hongkong Prize was first given out in 1992 to recognize individuals and organisations for making significant contributions to Hong Kong’s arts, culture, or education. It serves as an emblematic representation of its spirit of innovation, entrepreneurship, and international cooperation.
The Hongkong Prize recognizes excellence in five areas, namely Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, Life and Health, New Materials and New Energy, Advanced Manufacturing and FinTech. Winning scientists/teams are honored for their exceptional achievements in scientific research as well as impressive applications and commercialization efforts. Their innovations continue to strengthen Hong Kong’s technological atmosphere while driving innovation aimed at building upon strengths, serving the country, and contributing to world peace. Each field has a special jury comprising experts in its respective area from Hong Kong academia and business communities.
