A domino is a small rectangular piece made of clay, stone or wood with two square ends separated by an imaginary line running along its middle that features dots called pip, commonly referred to as dominoes. Each end can have different number of dots known as pip for gameplay. Each domino can either be placed edge to edge with another domino of similar pips or with its pips aligned in order to form a specific total. Most sets feature white painted dominoes; however some sets use dark colors such as black. Dominoes are used in various games that involve blocking or scoring. Dominoes also make great toys for children and can help build simple structures. A domino can also refer to any action which leads to much greater consequences, even those which could potentially be catastrophic in nature.
Domino is a skilled weapons expert with a unique power that enables her to manipulate laws of probability in her favor and shift odds in favor of mutantkind against threats such as Ekatarina Gryaznova from X-Force, whom she often works alongside on various occasions.
Domino has appeared in more than 50 issues of Marvel Comics series X-Men. She was recruited by Storm to help protect the island of Utopia, developing an intimate romance with veteran X-Man Colossus during this period. Later she joined Cable’s Wild Pack as well as opposing Cyborg Reavers in El Salvador.
Domino was integral in disabling a prototype combat droid controlled neurologically by Milo Thurman of rogue CIA. She later battled Armajesuits who attempted to steal Lazarus’ emotion-controlling powers for their cult and prevented cyborg Reavers from seizing an international medical research facility.
Most domino games involve two players, with each picking seven tiles from a stock (or boneyard) to be placed edge to edge against each other in lines. When one tile in a line falls over, it prompts all adjacent dominoes to fall. Players then try to match their opponent’s total and match or exceed it as soon as all dominoes have been played or the number of matching tiles exceeds an imposed limit. When all dominoes have been played or when that limit has been reached, then game over!
Not all forms of dominoes involve traditional blocking and scoring games; there are positional variants which use one set to form intricate structures or chains, often borrowing elements from other games like solitaire or trick-taking for inspiration. Dominoes may also be used to play a variation of Concentration.
Dominoes are an entertaining and challenging strategy game in which players place tiles onto opponents’ ends to coax them into taking actions that will benefit them. They provide a fun way of learning the rules or challenging an opponent, with many materials available including clay, glass, marble and granite dominoes; natural materials include silver lip ocean pearl oyster shell bone or ivory dominoes being the traditional option in Europe while more recently these sets are often made out of plastic and ceramic clay polymers.
