The Hong Kong Prize is Expected to Be More Lucrative Than Ever

The Hong Kong Prize is one of the world’s coveted awards, offering its recipient an enormous sum. Generocity organizes this prize each year in recognition of those who have contributed significantly to Hong Kong’s international development efforts and helped shape its role within global communities. The prize winners receive this prestigious recognition.

This year’s Hong Kong prize should be more lucrative than ever. With an expected prize fund of up to HK$20 million – more than that for Arnold Palmer Invitational on PGA Tour or Jonsson Workwear Open on European Tour – players in the top ten will all leave with some cash prize.

Last night, Mabel Cheung’s controversial documentary Ying Wa Girls won top honors at the 41st Hong Kong Film Awards (HKFA). The ceremony was hosted at Hong Kong Cultural Centre with many industry stars walking down its red carpet.

No matter the controversies surrounding the film, this award ceremony was still one of the highlights of the evening. Hosted by actress Michelle Yeoh and former Hong Kong police commissioner Derek Yee, it featured exciting wins, nominations and star-studded audience participation.

Nine Hong Kong artists were shortlisted, a record number for this year’s Art Prize. Of these nine artists, two-thirds were female – marking the highest percentage ever. Pakistani artist Sameen Agha took home both the Grand Prize and Vogue Hong Kong Women’s Prize as well as Public Vote Prize.

In 2023/24 horse racing season, prize money will increase by an 8 per cent increase. Longines Hong Kong International Races, FWD Champions Day and Group races will all see prize fund increases.

Prize money for the HSBC Hong Kong Mile has also seen a substantial increase, making this event one of the most renowned on Asia’s racing calendar. Attracting some of the finest runners worldwide, this race remains popular.

Mark Six is a 6-out-of-49 lotto game run by HKJC Lotteries Limited, a subsidiary of Hong Kong Jockey Club. Draws are held three times weekly – on Tuesday, Thursday and either Saturday or Sunday and broadcast live via television – and feature the Snowball Pool to increase First Division Prize Fund amounts up to predetermined amounts, increasing participants’ winning chances with bigger winning opportunities.

This year’s prize pool at this tournament stands at an unprecedented $5m – significantly surpassing even that of Arnold Palmer Invitational on the PGA Tour at $4m and Jonsson Workwear Open on DP World Tour with $1.5m prize pool each. Top ten finishers will all take home cash prizes; while the winner of the tournament will take home an eye-popping $4 million payout – making this tournament one of Asia Golf Circuit’s highest prize money payouts ever!
